The location I am visiting is mount hood. Mount hood is in the state oregon. The capital of Oregon is Salem. The countries that border Oregon are Idaho and Washington. Mount Hoods history- named after a British admiral and first described in 1792 by William Broughton, The oldest rocks exposed in the Mount Hood area are flows of the middle Miocene Columbia River Basalt Group, a sequence of tholeiitic lava that flooded through low points in the ancestral Cascade Range approximately 17 to 12 million years ago. Mount Hood is important because Peak, northwestern Oregon, U.S. Located in the Cascade Range at 11,235 ft (3,424 m), it is an extinct volcano that last erupted c. 1865. The snowcapped peak, the highest mountain in the state, is the focal point of Mount Hood National Forest, a popular tourist and recreation area.
